My very first contact with a member of the VOMPC was with Byron Mayo. The year was 1998. With my then almost 3 year old son in his stroller, we were taking a walk along the bike path in Depot Park. From slightly afar, I saw a gravel field where people were gathered and appeared to be playing some type of “ball rolling” game. We strolled closer and began watching. After only a few minutes, a friendly gentleman walked up to me and began to explain what the game was all about. I was always a Francophile and was intrigued by the French origin of the game. That friendly gentleman was Byron Mayo and his enthusiastic explanation of Pétanque on that day was enough to get me soon to return to the courts at Depot Park to try the game. I have Byron Mayo to thank for my sweet addiction to the game of Pétanque and for the cherished community of friends in the VOMPC.

Greetings,
I’m not the best speller but I see the word “regurarly” is spelled incorrectly on your website. In the past I’ve used a service like SpellAlerts.com or SiteChecker.com to help keep mistakes off of my websites.
